Classic Retrofit AC issue
WTF, the cable is too short (by like 6 inches) …see picture.
Has anyone else had this issue, how’d you fix it? ![]() |

Mine was also too short by about an inch and required me to chase the Bowden cable back to the sliders and re-run it in a more efficient way so that it wasn’t hung up on all of the junk behind the dash

Hopefully rerouting will work, mine looks like it’s 6” too short - doesn’t make sense…

Showdown - can you shoot a picture of how your left drain is (or let me know how you managed the drain tube?).
This is how mine is… ![]() |

My drain tube arrived broken off from the main housing so I relocated it and added a second. There was enough space to run both lines horizontal and then T them together and run another drain line out the bottom of the car.
There’s very little about my setup that still stock- there was so much that I found compromised, odd or just not to my liking that I’ve gone through just about every part. I’d like to rewrite the ECU code too but I’m sure that’s not something CR is going to facilitate. ![]()

Thanks Julian, agree with what you’re saying about the kit.
Attention to detail is questionable (moving the left drain over an inch would be better, providing a longer cable should not be that expensive). I’m hoping I don’t have any other challenges. |

Regarding the cable, this is very much a hand built Porsche thing. All the cars are different and the early cars tend to have shorter cables for some reason. The cables can also take different routes behind and in front of the dash. On the Gen 2 blower, we moved the bracket across.
The drains have to work with left and right hand drive models which are different. There should be a right angle piece attached to the blower, then the hose connects to that.

I used this to extend the wire. I also moved the bracket back a bit.
