Question about Upper Door Edge Seal
The upper door edge seals (the squeegees) on my '87 coupe are about 1/2" short of covering the entire window length. I don't know if this is normal or if they have shrunk. Both sides are the same so it may be the way they came from the factory. I think that the part number for the pair is 911-531-931/932. The rest of the window and door seals are in good shape. Thanks for the help.

The are shrunk. Very easy install. They should fill window frame

Thanks Jim. I did some research here and from what I gather all I have to do is gently pry up the rear of the outer trim piece until some of the clips release then slide the old rubber out and the new one in. The old rubbers are already loose in the trim channels so hopefully the clips will snap out easily. I really don't want to open a can of worms by removing the window frame.

Yes. No need to pull out the window frame. The aluminum strips pry up, then the old rubber slides out. Use a plastic pry tool and put a rag down against the paint. The new rubber squeegees will need some lubrication to help them slide back into the strip. IIRC, I had to trim mine down about 1/4" otherwise they were too long.

Excellent! Thanks you guys.

Are we sure ?
"Rubber" fade and crack but strikes me as odd getting shorter like that. My 87 is the same, down to the 1/2 inch, as is my 80, the former still looking pristine, the 80 seal all weathered from its life in the desert southwest. |
