Class Action against porsche for the 2.7

Has anyone ever heard of a class action being brought against Porsche for the head stud problem of 2.7L engines ?

MRM 06-26-2003 04:51 PM

The statute of limitations on that ran some time in the 70s.

pwd72s 06-26-2003 04:54 PM

You GOTTA be kidding! That would be like suing Ford because Henry built cars with plain glass windows...before safety glass was invented.

Adam 06-26-2003 05:08 PM

Aww, it's not that bad! ;)

I quite like it, it's got a lot of character and a fun powerband.

rudy sanchez 06-26-2003 05:14 PM

just rebuild and update it!

lots of us w/ good 2.7 after some fixins

Yes, that class-action suit was entered by T. T. Oversteer Esq.

2.7 engines? uhhh, how about 3 liter engines ('78-'83)? No head stud problems for them? The last 2.7s were manufactured in 1977. That's 26 years ago. Do you have some engine issues you'd like to get off your chest?

I appreciate the limitations issue and I am not proposing to commence an action. It was just a question, which we lawyers like to ask. Just curious from a historic point of view.

" pwd72s " you would be surprised at how many class actions are brought and for trivial reasons. The public never hears about them for obvious reasons and they are usually settled on a confidential basis ! There have been numerous class action proceedings for engine design faults against other manufacturers.

Umm..lets sue Ford for the Edsel, VW for their Nazi start, Fiat and Ferrari for Mussolini, Ford for the Pinto, Chevy fot the Aztec, AMC for the Gremlin, the French for Le Car, the Russias for the Trabant (sic?),....can I sue the government because I'm poor??? :D

Too many law schools. Not enough engineering schools...

MotoSook 06-26-2003 06:50 PM

Doh! I knew a lawyer would chime in on the Pinto! :D

Paul...it's just easier to go to Law School..hehe..sorry Marc :D

Zeke 06-26-2003 06:54 PM

Souk, Le Car was cool, especially the rally version with the big fenders. What's wrong with you?

jk911, maybe you ought to focus on something positive. This board is given to bringing up the issues connected with the 911. You will hear moe about more problems here because that's what is done here. I had a '77 2.7 for 15 years and put well over a 100,000 miles on it after buying it with 80,000 on it. I never had a head stud pull or break. And the themal reactors were on it for the first 100,000 miles.

Just an example:

Good example, but one that ford should really take responsibility for.

Its just another one of those things they are trying to let get past the warranty period so they don't have to deal with warranty or recall costs, just like their old firestone problem.

At least this defect is less likely to kill people.

Plastic!
My father told me to expect that to go to court someday. I'll call him with the good news. You guys left out the Tempo and the Mustang II.

C'mon, its not like the tires fu@ki*g explode!! (3 of my buddies got new tires)

JackT 06-27-2003 04:34 AM

JK911, you may want to hang out on some of the BMW boards if you are looking for a class action to handle. They are constantly complaining about their cup holders breaking. BMW seems to knowingly install cup holders that they know will not last and will have to be replaced, before and after the warranty expires.
Too many law schools turning our, too many lawyers.

SOUK: Chevy fot the Aztec

Come on SOUK - PONTIAC had the Aztec! - now the all new and much improved VIBE :-)

My 6 year old and I have fun driving around spotting cars. Of course we play Punch bug - but we also play "PT Cruiser your a loser" - and "Aztec your a wreck". The Aztec is tough because they only sold 9 in the whole country.

Of course Ford was sued for the Pinto and got hit with what was the largest verdict against an America company. VW was more recently sued (and paid a huge settlement) for using slave labor during WWII. I think we're out of luck on the Aztec, Gremlin and being poor.

MotoSook 06-27-2003 05:49 AM

Jeb..sorry, I usually group all the GMC products and call them Chevy..incorrect yes, but still a bad design...wonder if the folks who worked on that project are at Saturn now.

geez, can I sue my father for my oversights??? hmmm... :D
