Weight of 86 Cabrio

I was looking at the vin sticker inside the drivers door...it says the car weighs something like 3417 Lbs...and gave the breakdown between front and rear of vehicle.

According to the Porsche Buyers Guide, the 86 Cabrio weighed 2750 Lbs.

Why is the sticker listed considerably higher? just wondering...

Thats the gross weight that the car would weigh if you loaded it to its maximum capacity.

With nothing more than a tank of fuel and oil it weighs about 2800 lbs.
