Outer CV Boot Replacement

I just received by boot kit and was a bit shocked to see a thin sheet metal form on the end rather than the nice thick flange. Just thinking about returning it and replacing it with the original design. If the boot with the thin sheet metal is used does the original thick flange still get sandwiched in-between? If not, do I need shorter bolts? It would also appear that the lock plates must be used with the sheet metal design. Probably don' have those either.

Edit: After additional research I need shorter bolts at 45mm. Therefore, the old thick flange is discarded and not reused. Does anyone have the part number for the moon plates that use 8mm bolts. The only one I can find on Pelican is for 10mm.

I just completed this upgrade on my 1980 911SC while rebuilding the cv joints. I used these moon plates:

Nice find, thanks. On the outer CV joint did you need to use the shorter 45mm long bolts. Or is this only an issue on the inner joints?

I didn’t need to replace the boots, so I kept the originals in place. Also, with this moon plate and the schnorr washers you’ll need longer bolts. I actually bought a set of 55mm bolts for mine. My job was just a CV rebuild. I was putting new bushing and shocks in the rear suspension, and the CV grease poured out of the joints as a liquid. I decided it was a good idea to rebuild and regrease the joints as part of my suspension overhaul

You can get the schnorr washers really cheap from the same site I linked above.
