1977 911S targa carpet-passenger floorboard

Ok, another newbie question for a new to me 1977 911 . took all carpet out and have a few questions.
1. old carpet was stitched into the Ebrake/defroster rubber boot as well as seat belt rubber boot. if I buy a new carpet kit is this necessary to do? Any idea what was stock?
wondering if debris will be falling down there or if it even matters.

2. Car apparently had AC at one time, does not work and I don't plan to fix. On floorboard am i missing 1 or 2 pieces that would have originally covered the intake (guess its an intake but seems strange it would have to pull air through carpet when working?)
Just the one passenger floorboard piece that slips behind the lip on my floorboard?
I would like to do it correctly if I ever sell it down road and someone wanted to get AC working.

Im sorry for showing ignorance , thanks

New carpet set has all the cut out(s) and for the handbrake, the original has a hem binding which the boot slips underneath. The seat belt mount and shifter boots have an extra lip to insert the carpet into for a finished look.

The evaporator hole - I used sheet metal and pop rivets to cover it. The single retaining bracket holds the floorboard in place ( don’t over torque, they’ll snap) then carpet mat which has a little retaining strip to hold it in place from slipping or flopping down.
All carpet is loose fit except the side map pockets which are glued.

Pictures of my stock carpet…
Handbrake boot, hard to see the binding but the boot slips underneath

Sheet metal cover can be seen at top with footboard in place one nut/one bracket since I had ac and cutout, I’m not sure what the two slots at the top of the footboard were for if that was an additional holddown. Nonetheless, footboard stay put with the one lower bracket.

There’s a little tab on the bulkhead that the carpet hold down strap slips into, like a belt loop….(can’t get iPad into there)

The two slots define the middle tab that fits into a comparable U-shaped fitment in the bulkhead on my SC.

I note the stock/OEM trim stitched into the parking brake opening of the carpet, which my old carpet had but, disappointedly, my Lakewell kit did not. Just a data point if you are purchasing a carpet kit.
