Smugglers box Heater?

I was told by the PO that in the smugglers box of my 1979 911 SC I have a secondary heater. I asked him how he came about this because I have yet to see anything on here or in the Bentley and other sources. His reply is that he called porsche and they said there is a very rare heater that was an option on Eur cars only. I am asking this because I live in Montana first and just completed an A/C delete minus the "blower" out of the box. The Part # is Behr 90157302100. If this is a heater that is great. If so does anyone have any info on how it works.

Could be a Webasto, gas fired aux heater. Open it up take some pics. There should be some controls in the cockpit unless the PO pulled them?

Thats an Evaporator housing for A/C, not a heater. I think the Webasto heater option was discontinued in '69-72 ish years.

I would agree with both of you. Does that part number specify that. I don't see Webasto on anything. I do have two vents exiting the bottom of the body. I was planning on pulling it and replumbing the heat in the engine compartment. But if this is a heater then I will leave it.

On the .00001% chance its a heater, it would have a fuel line running to it and a pull type switch in the middle dash near the fog light switch that pulls out to control it, but the part number you gave is for an evap housing.

That's the part number for the AC evaporator.

Hey folks! First time posting, but been lurking on here for several years. Bumping thread because I’m also curious about this. I have a gas heater in the smugglers box of my 81 ROW:

Does it have separate controls to operate it?

arbita1, as far as I know, just this dial in the center console. No additional handles that I’m aware of.
