too young to drive?

My son is 11 weeks old today, and I think it's time to introduce him the car. As soon I put him in the seat, he smiled.

You'll need some BIG blocks on those pedals, but I think he's ready.

Nice picture! My 4 month old daughter loves to go for rides in my 86 911. I also love all the people that tell me while i am at a stop light:
"You know you shouldn't put rearward facing child seats in the front seats of cars with airbags"

It makes me laugh....

Thanks all. I can't wait to take him out for his first ride.

Steve, there is a good product idea for Pelican, "My First BIG Blocks". LOL

My son took his first ride in the 911 at 4 weeks old. When he is in the car it is all smiles and he starts laughing and grinning ear to ear when I give it a little gas. He is now just under 4 months old. Have not had any comments on him riding in the front as of yet but my mother in law cringes every time she hears that he has been in the car.

I have been meaning to get a photo of him in the drivers seat.

Good looking son by the way. Congratulations

I have been dying for an opportunity to show these.

My one year old daughter seems to have the right attitude. She will not let me walk past the car while I am carrying her without pointing and making a big fuss. Just has to go sit inside.

Gets up on the wheel in the drivers seat

or kicks back and listen to the music when a passenger.

BTW, what car seats do you all have for your 911? Do you put the car seat in the front or the back seat? Rear or forward facing?

Gary, she is a very cute.

currently my daughter is still in the rearward facing car seat by graco that clicks into a base. I use the base in my LATCH equipped cars, but in the 911 I just use the fron seatbelt, it works fine.

I have not started looking at the forwrd facing seats yet, she isn't nearly big enough.

Any input on carseats would be appreciated here to! Infant car seats in particular.

Liam just turned five the other day. I told him he had to stop growing and his response was "I need to get bigger so I can drive the Porsche".

I gave him a Playstation 2 steering wheel to go with his car racing games. He identified the shift paddles as coming from Ferarri. He will hang out all day at Road Atlanta, and knows the course better than most. Ahhh... that's my boy!

Nice cars by the way. Very clean tan interior!

Paul,

Thanks. It seems like it has been only six weeks since she was your sons age. Goes by fast.

We are using a Britax Marathon seat mostly as my daughter is showing tendencies of being an amazon. It can be used rear or forward facing and can be attched with either a latch system or regular shoulder belts. If we use shoulder belts we put a ratcheting tightener (forget the name) on the belt to make sure it is very tight.
In the 911, it will not fit into the back seat but fit perfect in the SRD's in front.

Gary, I have told by many parents to enjoy this time with him, because he will grow up too fast. Next thing I know he will be asking for the key to the 911!

Thanks for the seat info. I also did a search and found this thread as well for anyone else that's interested in this subject.

Finally found a child seat that fits!!!

Thanks all for the kind words about the car.

Okay then, hear it from another parent: Stare. Take the child with you on errands. Skip events that you don't want to go to anyway, using the kid as an excuse. Talk to him/her. Do whatever. Just don't poop away that time. It really does go by fast fast fast. Faster than a 917. Minimum 30 minutes of hugging/holding per day EVERY DAY. I'm a great one for disregarding what the shop manual says...I prefer to learn by my own mistakes. That's fine if you're that way too, just don't do this with your child. Go with the advice you get. Spend the time.

Ahhhh, too cool.

*****************

Well, he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man I just had to say,
"Son, I'm proud of you. Can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head, and he said with a smile,
"What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later. Can I have them please?"

************************

Too soon he'll be asking for the car keys
