1973 911T battery replacement help

Any recommendations for replacement batteries for a 1973 911T 2.4? I've read through some comments on message boards that are 15+ years old, but couldn't find any updated threads on the topic. I appreciate the help!

Since I have a 1973 T, I'll tell you what I did. I went to a single battery in the right box, then taped up the bare positive terminal at the left battery box so it would not short out. A Group 70 size GM side terminal battery fits in there snugly. I used the NAPA AGM type with the positive terminal to the right side (closer to the cable). It's been working well for almost 5 years. There's no need to use two batteries anymore, as modern AGM batteries provide more than enough starting current and voltage. If you want to take about 30 pounds out of the car, you can install a LiFePO car battery instead, but those are $500 or more.

I like that the weight of the battery is on the opposite side of the car from my lard ass, which helps balance the car. I also figure that getting the battery away from the fuse box will prevent battery corrosion in that area.

If I ever have a reason to remove the gas tank, I will reroute the battery cables so that they only go to the right side box.

Not much has really changed over the years.

I did an Optima on its side on the drivers side and merely disconnected the wire from the other battery.

I have one Miata battery in the left hole. Fits fine after cutting off the side hold down lips.
