Original part ?
I have just purchased a new DME from Porsche for my ‘87 3.2 911
Is this “made in China” DME really an original Porsche spare part ?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1724944355.jpg |

As I understand it, that logo signifies that it is a part made for Porsche, and supplied by Porsche. As opposed to being a part made by (potentially) the same manufacturer - but not supplied to Porsche for re-sale in a Porsche box. Yes. Porsche manufacturers a number of things in China now.

Looks original to me, and some parts are indeed manufactured in China.

🤮
The cottage industry that has sprung up around our beloved classic Porsches will set you free from the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men... Solid state and made in the USA.. https://www.ftech9.com/new-products I love Porsche, but F them for charging the Porsche premium on inferior reproduction parts... And let's be intellectually honest, regardless of whether it's stamped with the stylized P and comes in a Porsche box, these parts are no better than reproductions. |
That bearing shell looks fake to me. The Porsche triangle and Glyco mark are not well defined.

Frank hit the nail right on the head. IMO, it is a mistake to blindly rely on “genuine Porsche” parts and think that you’re getting the best quality part out there. In many cases, Porsche is stamping its name on parts that are garbage. It really comes down to doing some research and buying the best quality part, even if it’s not “genuine Porsche”.
