1971 911E tool?

It never ceases to amaze me the knowledge that comes from this forum. Thanks in advance Pelicans for taking the time to share all your wisdom.
I have one more question on my 71 911E. I’ve always had this tool in my kit, but I never knew if it was original or not. I never see it in tool kits that are for sale. It looks like a brake spreader or something like that?

Yes, the ATE tool in the two photos is for pushing the brake caliper pistons back.
It is not part of the factory tool kit supplied with each air cooled 911.

Fan Fact from the world wide internet regarding that vintage, probably collectible tool….

D.R.G.M. registration was introduced 1891 and if you are dating items you should hold in mind that even during Allied occupation up until 1949, registration procedures remained untouched and still used the D.R.G.M. registration documents, which of course explains why D.R.G.M. marks can be found on products actually manufactured up until 1952 as the registration itself was valid for three years.

As from the end of October 1952, all registrations were definately marked with 'Deutsches Bundesgebrauchsmuster' (D.B.G.M.) or simply with 'Gebrauchsmuster' or 'Gebrauchsmusterschutz'.[/I]”

If you want a great brake piston tool so you don't need to use this vintage one, I have one of these Lisle tools: Lisle Brake Piston Compressor

Works great even with multiple pistons.
