Shift Knob...is it universal?

I was thinking of getting an aftermarket shift knob. Are porsche shift knob threads different from the rest of the world?

PP has a large selection of shift knobs for Porsches. The hardest part is getting the old one off. A large wrench and a rubber mallet seems to be the best removal method--yes I've done it and it works. Just don't swing at your knob so hard you hit yourself in the head. The new knob attaches with little screws that tighten onto the stem.

You car doesn't use threads for the shift knob. The shifter and the knob are smooth and held together by a compression clip.
