Bridgestone Potenza Sport experience ???

Mounted the front and waiting on the rear tires. Running 16x7 and 16x9's.

Just took off 6 year old Pirellis and now with winter/spring hitting here in south TX was thinking about purchasing another set. Have been driving a lot with family moving a few states away and driving more with the temperatures being bearable.

Just wondering what experience people have had. See limited talk/reviews about them here in the forums.

Thanks!
Erik

I'm on my 2nd set. 1st set was good for about 25k miles (fronts were fine but I always replace all 4)

These are the replacement for the RE-11, which was a favorite for 16x7 / 16x9 fitment. I'm a fan of 300 treadwear tires on street driven 911s. They last a reasonable amount of time, have plenty of grip and won't aim you toward the ditch at the first sign of rain.

Thanks!

Seems the track can wear these out fast other than that most reviews were positive.

Will be putting highway miles for the most part and anything north of 20-25,000 miles is all I need at this point. That should get me by for a few years-ish.

Again, thanks-
Erik

Great tires, I’ve never gotten more than 15k miles with any tire on a 911.

I've been eyeing these as well.I like they have have the 245/45/16 available.

and I like they are on sale and the price is great.

I'm worries slightly that it says 202 production, and that is 4 years ago, I know...stored in a warehouse and all that, but starting out with a 4 year old tire worries me.

Just so you know...my new front tires were dated 2022. I was concerned also with this...

I should be getting the 245/45's this week and will post.

In the past I have ordered the special/closeout tires and never had one older than 1.5/2 years.

Just want to point out that “wheel not included” text. I’d hate for you as adults to order tires and be alarmed that it didn’t come with wheels. Apparently this is a problem. Hopefully you won’t be alarmed that you’re not sent that very tire they photographed.

Going through this debate now - I’m having a hard time not buying the Conti ExtremeContact Sport 02.

There are better tires for 100% dry. But for all around driving the Conti seems to take the comparison tests over other tires including the Bridgestone.

Agree.

I see what most run and/or recommend and wanted to try something a little different. As stated they are on sale and thought "what the heck".

I watched a few good videos from last year and for the price was willing to purchase the Bridgestones based on those results.

I have been using the Pirelli P Zero Rosso(Collezione). Not overly impressed with them - especially for the price. (Really thought I liked but they did not age well at all...for me anyway.)

Glad to hear good things about the Bridgestone from others, and really happy to see we still have a choice, especially with the 245/45 size.

I've got them on the SC. 16"wheels. I really like them. Completely different to the Hankook tires I had on previously. They seem to have a very good stiff tire wall. The old Hankooks had a bit of a wish washy feel about them but the Potenza Sports feel very firm and direct, nicely confidence inspiring

I liked them ok on my 88. Looking back I would have used a softer compound tire for how I use my car.

Update for you. Received the rear tires this morning (245/45) and they were dated the last week in 2021 and early 2022.

At the prices they are going for I figured the least. The stated:2020 (from the website) caused me to hesitate but 3 out the 4 dated 2022 - I can be good with that.

If anything it makes me want to drive a lot more now

Hope that helps. So far I am impressed and will see how they do in the Hill Country this weekend, but they already feel better than the Pirellis I have been running. The Pirellis in the wet were not inspiring at all (to me anyway). I heard good things about the Bridgestones and wet weather driving...

I just popped over to Tire Rack.

It seems you can either buy current production of the Bridgestone Potenza sport, and they will give you an $80 "instant savings" when you buy 4, or buy the "older" tires for a few dollars less.

Any updates on how you are liking the Bridgestones? I am considering them for the my 911SC based on price and reviews, but I’m not in love with the modern tread pattern on an older car. I am also considering the Yokohama A052 for more grip and more aggressive tread pattern.

Well, yes actually I can give an update.

South Texas, Hill Country driving and grocery getting...

Really like them, especially compared to my last set of Pirelli P-Zero Rossos - which some might say are way overpriced.

The Bridgestones seem stickier(?) and better in wet weather (when there is some rain here).

Keeping it simple I have zero complaints and for the price even less.

I drive with the windows down and use my very upgraded stereo quite a bit on long drives or cross country treks so any road noise is nothing I notice, but honestly there isn't much from my experience.

I have driven the car hard in the Hill Country and back roads and so far have liked the feel, but have not tracked them or really pushed.

Overall, for a car that has been in and out of the garage daily/weekly - I am happy.

Worst case scenario I have for a few years and move on to the more popular brands but...at this point I will most likely replace with the same.

Again, no complaints at all...hope that helps a bit.

I also have these Bridgestone's on my SC, and nearly pulled the trigger on the Yokos, but the Potenza Sports have been great, quiet, and you can't beat the price. You'll also get more life out of these versus the 052s. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick replies. I have probably another year left on my RE11s then I’ll need to make a decision.
