Cert of Authenticity

I've been reading that you can no longer get a certificate of authenticity, but that you have to go to a dealer and have a Porsche Classic Technical inspection. That does not seem to be an option here in Canada. Does anyone have any suggestion for how I get the options list, engine # and port of delivery for my '80 911SC?

Cheers

Contact DJPateman on this forum.

The options list shouldn't require an inspection, that is part of the cheaper Porsche Production Specification. But port of entry and engine/transmission numbers require the inspection. Some dealers in Canada seem to offer that, like Porsche Ontario: https://www.porscheontario.com/classic-porsche-certification-service/

Edit: Well I'm embarrassed. That link is for a dealer in Ontario, California. But there are Porsche Classic Partner dealerships in Canada, maybe they offer Porsche Classic inspections? I can't tell from the websites.

Dave (DJPateman) might be able to help you, but generally he only has info on the early cars.

You can get a free Production Spec sheet if you register your car at Porsche.com Not as pretty as the $150 one but copy and paste to Word and make it better. As Mark said if you want numbers then a COA at a dealer, $500 I last heard?

Thanks for the responses and suggestions. I swung by my local dealership, and yes the COA is now call the Classic Technical certificate and can only be done at specific dealerships in the US. Nothing in Canada right now. I try registering with Porsche.com

Thanks for this info, steven c. Is this the registration screen that gets you to the free Production Spec?

Yes Then you can add your car with proof of ownership you send to them. Takes a day or two.

Thank you! I have a ‘72 and ‘85 with the older-type COAs for both. It will be interesting to see how Porsche’s Production Specs compare.

U R Welcome, have fun out there!

I registered and sent off my info, but I don’t see anything about a CoA. When logged in, I can’t find a screen to request a CoA. I would appreciate any help.

I'm at the race track this weekend but if you want a COA you have to go to a Classic dealer and have the car inspected. Production specs are what you are looking for. Monday I can take a screen shot, send me a message.

Found it, a bit lackluster, could have gotten the info under the bonnet sticker.

Well, I guess your welcome then. No sticker prior to 84 I think, so it was great for my 81.

I can get the data for the 1970 through 1980 cars, but transmission serial is spotty. For the 17 digit cars I can get data but NOT the engine or trans serial; well I can but it is seriously expensive and no telling if they are willing to do it again. Email me.
