Timing Chain Rattle? Or something else.
 

Hi, thought I would check in with smarter people here. Chasing a metallic grating sound on start up after idle slows down. Brain jumps to a failed tensioner as the possible culprit. But everywhere I look it is equated to a chain on a garbage can or oil drum sound. To me, this doesn't match that, and no one seems to have a recording of the sound.

That sound like failed tensioner?

Check you amount of shims at the alternator adjustment must be 6.
.Also if you do not have stethoscope use longer screwdriver one end goes to you fist and year and the other place on top culprit are..it will point it where the noise most likely is

Yes, maybe run it for 20 seconds without the fan belt attached. To me it sounds like the alternator bearing or thereabouts.

You can take the belt off and spin the alternator / fan by hand as well.

Thanks for the input. Took the belt off and ran it for 30 seconds. Hard to pinpoint sound as it goes away after 15 - 30 seconds. Fairly certain it is coming from right side. Heard it just once this time and putting a stethoscope to the right chain cover, it didn't happen again.

try to do another video ..just point it to the right side.You can run the car more then 30 sec without the lat belt...even a minute nada will happened;-)
