Installing Rear Deck Grille

I need a bit of help here on my '71 911. I am interestd in straightening the horizontal slats on my rear deck lid and I wanted to find out how to re-install the grille. There are screws that go through the veritcal slats. These are not studded screws and it seams to be impossible to hold onto the top of the screw to put a nut on the bottom because the top of the screw is obstructed by the upper portion of the vertical slat. I would think these screws need to be studded but I cannot come up with any concievable way to put the nuts on the bottom and hold onto the top. So now I can't drive my baby until I get the deck lid grille on. Please help.

sounds broke -- early lids had fixed studs -- if not fixed then they are broke

later grill had "T" studs, maybe you can add them or get the entire thing at a junk yard.
