Confirm pls? Sequence for recovering upper seat 911 SC (but applies to most seats).

Here's one for those who've recovered their Comfort seats for the 1978 SC but probably applies to other models as well.

Since the bolsters for the upper seat are two separate sections (yellow in picture #6 below is separate piece), and access to hog ringing the listing wire is impossible without bending the wire and due to the tight fit and lack of access, I assume the following:

1. With seat cover (5) inside out, first slide uppermost seat section over bolster (6 - absent yellow section now removed) to point where horizontal listing wire fits into bolster slot - hog ring to back frame (4).
2. Carefully slide seat cover down over frame to point where the right and left long vertical listing wires can now be slid into cloth pockets with a minimum of bending.
3. Now slide seat cover back up as little as necessary to allow both hands to move into the center cavity where the center (yellow) section is absent and begin, from top to bottom, process of hog ringing the listing wire to the back frame (There are five locations per side).
4. Slide center bolster into seat from bottom to top.

This means carefully tightening the vertical cloth pockets downward before hog clipping as you go, and using talc and a plastic bag to ease the fit. I am doing this in the sun on a 85degree day so I have a very pliable cover to work with.

Many thanks for your confirmation and tips!

Lower seat sections are done - heat is our friend:

this might be of some use - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kz6lf1or77g

I have been checking out seat threads and I collected this video for future reference. I'll be interested to know if you have any tips or tricks, maybe even a little guide if you feel ambitious. you did a great job with those seat bottoms.

where did you source the new materials?

Great reference, thank you! I have a bunch of information about the SC Comfort seat in vinyl now after researching, like you, all that I can find.

The new covers are from World Upholstery via John Walker's recent Porsche Swap meet. They are quite nice. If you look at the seat bottoms they have been uplifted with about 1" of batting on the seat tops.

I am writing up a document on doing this job with plenty of pics so stay tuned. I started with a thread that I will add to as I go. If you already know something about auto upholstery (I didn't) then you will find my work at the 101 level. However, I did learn alot that might be of use to others who know more. For example, start and learn on your Driver seat because you won't be looking at it when you are driving, only the better looking Passenger seat!

PM with any specific questions and I will try to help. For certain, like swapping motorcycle tires and similar, you want to do this job in hot weather. Really pays off.

Well God hates a coward so I went forward with my plan of keeping the center bolster out while I hog ringed the two vertical listing wires. A bit of a struggle but really not hard if you slip rather than roll the cover back up for access. A clip to hold material out of the way as you try to peek up into the access area is useful.

I am shifting all progress back to my primary thread here: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1166022-reupholstering-sc-comfort-seat-vinyl.html. This is where I will compile my work and either make available as a PDF or take server space with multiple posts.

Driver seat finished. To remove the remaining wrinkles I have it in the sun in 90degree weather and will shift it regularly from the sun to the coldest part of the house ~65degrees to temp cycle while also hand stroke the material down and away from the beauty areas to the bottom. I don't want to use a hair dryer if I can help it.
