911SC Front Suspension Best Assembly Sequence
Anyone care to share logical assembly sequence. Starting with rack installation. I'm assembling by myself, no helper.

Put the steering rack in before you reinstall the cross member (if you removed it). Otherwise, the parts can be independently removed and replaced. I think you can even install the steering rack with the cross member in place, but it's easier if it's not in the way.

Hi Pete, that is what I came up with.
1. Steering Rack… What a bugger that was to install myself 2. Cross member 3. Control arms 4. Strut upper 5. Strut to Ball-Joint 6. Steering Tie-Rods In torquing the upper Strut Nut, the washer with the keyway on the inside of the hole prevents the washer from rotating on the shaft, but nothing holds the washer/shaft from spinning while tightening. There is the outside slot, but it should have two slots to hold positively with an adjustable Face Spanner.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725668089.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725668089.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725668089.jpg |
For the nut on top of the strut, do what the pro's do: Use an impact driver to get on or off.

Outside of Kalifornia we call it a Crescent wrench:)

I happen to be working on this same project myself. So I am asking this question out of ignorance not snarkyness.
Is there any reason to not bolt the rack and cross member together, then install as a unit? |
