Got smoked by a GT2 this PM

I know this is not directly related to this forum but as I was already reading it, I just wanted to share this story. This PM I was driving my 03 M3 which I own in addition to my SC (Please I do not want to start a discusion as to why I own an SC and an M3. I already have a hard enough time with my wife about this.)

As I was entering the highway, I saw a beautifull PORSCHE GT2 stopped on the entrance ramp. I slowed down and had a long look at the car and then accelerated briskly to get on the highway. First thing I know the GT2 is flying by me like if I am stopped. I was not at full acceleration, but I am sure that thing is so fast it would have smoked me anyway.

Either the guy tought that I wanted to race him (I know better) or just wanted to show me how fast his car is. Either way, I was amazed. What a beauty. I would trade the M3 for one in a second if I could afford it. I might have a BMW as an everyday car but my heart is still with PORSCHE

Yes the GT2 is a great car! I was following one on a fun run here about a month ago.. it is very sweet!

The giant ceramic brake rotors are a sight to be seen and get the same tiny heat cracks around the cross drill holes just like my steel rotors do.

But it's a water pumper! Baaaaad ju ju.............;)

But its still using the evolved 930 engine case so it can't be all bad. ;)

I have a couple buddies with 996 TT X50s... about the same power as the GT2. They are SCARY fast... unbelievable. And they go around corners without any fear of oversteering. But... they are still plastic pieces of crap, IMHO :)

I pulled into the gas station yesterday, next to a black GT2. Nice car!

I went inside to pay the guy and he looks out and says "is that your car, the red one?"

"Yes"

"Nice Car!... I like the color" he exclaimed.

Funny that the 86 draws more attention than the 02.

The GT2 uses the 964 cases with the oil return tube holes blocked off. The 93 and up 930 or turbo used the 964 cases too.http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...oilet_claw.gif

964 case= "evolved 930 case", no?

Porsche964turbo 06-29-2003 10:10 AM

actually, your probley right but that don't count.... that would be an evolution of an evolution. wow thats to complicated

Evolution is all about lineage.

Anyone who has seen the new turbo cases and a 930 case would be hard pressed to find the differences.

The plugged oil return tube holes on a water cooler say it all. :D

IIRC at least some of the 935s and the 962 were water pumpers (water cooled heads).
I know I wouldn't kick either of those cars out of the garage for having radiators ..... :)
