Turbo Look - Without Rock Guards?
Hey gang,
I think I have finally decided the fate of my 87 build. Phase II: I want to go M491 Turbo Look, without rock guards, no rear wing, sunroof delete. Phase III: I want to do a 993 3.6 transplant, electric AC/Heat. I love the look of my current setup without the rock guards, and haven't been able to find a reliable picture of a turbo/turbo look without the rock guards on. By “rock guards” do you mean the rocker covers or the “shark fin” rock guards that adhere to the rear fenders. Either way, here’s my ‘74 with turbo flares without either.

I have a friend with a 930 without those sharkfins/stone guards. The rear fenders look pretty sandblasted. I'm keeping mine on.

Perfect place for PPF if you opt-out of the stone guards.
Here are the pics you're looking for... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1984-porsche-carrera-coupe-factory-turbo-look/ https://www.jpfrazier.com/vehicles/113/1984-porsche-911-m491 |
Sorry, wrote this pretty tired last night... I am looking to keep the no "Rocker Cover" look.
When I do widebody the car I will be going with a wrap again, but I will see if I can get matte PPF to cover the front of the rear fenders, even on my carrera the wrap in that area looks like it's been destroyed with my spirited canyon drives. The trickier situation is that on the 87+ cars we have the torsion tube that is essentially covered by the rocker guards, on my current build I just have it wide open, which I also admittedly like. A bit more noticeable with this picture. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725724705.jpg |
IMO, it looks a bit unfinished without the covers. Porsche also made different styles of covers. Some are solid and some have the center cut out. I sourced a set of solids for my car.
