fuel line kink
 

So... while installing the pressure line in the tunnel (pushing from the front of the car) I kinked the line. Is this ok? It straightened right out, but I thought I should ask since I can.

You’d need to throw up a pic to assess how bad it is.

That would have been a good idea. Unfortunately its in the tunnel.

Since you are that far into the job I would just replace the line. Use a coupler and some PEX style crimp fittings to pull the 'second' replacement, attached, through. Hose clamps would probably bind, crimp's you can twist.

I should have mentioned that I was looking for a "fuhgeddaboudit, it will be fine".
Needless to say, I ordered a new line and I will just need to be more careful.

Were you pushing the line hard? The thought of that kinked line will haunt you until it’s replaced. I’ve been there on occasion.


I went through this replacement a couple of months ago. I made a fitting and pulled the original line forward with my adapter and some 10mm poly line. Then feed and lightly tug going the other direction. I didn’t need to pull parking brake or the console. I’ve already rebuilt and assembled it for good. The adapter I machined was male thread to a barbed. I heated up the 10mm Air Brake Line and pushed it on the adapter.

Really essential to have a helper when installing Tunnel lines.

I use a M14 Female coupler that helps a great deal when replacing Tunnel lines.

Oooops, I now see you have a 75 911, and this is a whole different story. Unless you now have a Front Pump there IS NO Pressure Line Through the Tunnel.

Fish line is needed here, as it helps guide the old out and the new in.

AND, even more important you have that helper.

I am curious, what actual Tunnel Line are you using that "Kinked" during install?

I actually said outloud "this is a two person job" just before the line kinked.
I do have a '75, but I'm relocating the fuel pump to the front crossmember.
I bought this car (my first 911) as a fully dissasembled project, the learning curve is STEEP.

A 75 911S still has a steel front crossmember. What are you using for a pump mount?
