Wish me luck.. on Repaired Seat
Had a nice surprise while combing over the new to me 83, a little TLC here and there. Just a simple lean over and rippp... a bummer since the seats, generally speaking, are looking quite nice.
Anyway, YouTube sewing lesson added to the list and here's the finished product. I wonder what the over under is on this repair. Days, months? We shall see.. Might be helpful motivation for anyone else who has a tear in the seat bottom.

Nice work! Cleaver use of existing perforations as a guide!
Is that a machine or hand stitched? What type of thread? Did you add any backer to the underside of the fabric to strengthen the stitching to resist pull out? |

thanks EC -
Hand stitched, using Thread #69 T70 Size 210D/3 and the smaller of the hooked needles in this Singer Needles Pack (buy 2 packs, so you have 2x of the smaller needle) Used this guy's tutorial on YT Finished with a very small dabbing of fabric adhesive There is no backing, and I suspect in time these threads might make their way through the already dry leather. but hopefully the amount of cross stitches spreads out the load enough to get a year or so out of it before I bite any re-upolsturey bullets
