Vacuum leak throttle linkage
The other day I made my own smoke machine and plugged it in through the brake booster line that goes into the air box on my 1979 CIS car. I did not detect any leaks except for a little mysterious smoke coming from the throttle body where the linkage connects to it. Smoke did not appear to exit from the base of the TB where there is a big o-ring. So, I guess I'm checking to see if my observation is valid and what seals are leaking where the linkage meets the TB.

Did you ever get anywhere on this? I have the same. Trying to see if I should be getting my throttle shaft bushings replaced.

Hi Jay. It has been too long for me to recall what i ended up doing. However, I'm pretty sure I did not replace any bushings. I'm sorry that I cannot be more helpful.

I don't know anything about the CIS throttle bodies, but for reference it is somewhat common on the later 928s. the injection is managed differently, but I would venture to guess the throttle shaft's seals are similar.
here is a RENNLIST thread for reference. |
