Headlight trim screw tab repair

Headlight trim retainer screw tab repair on 72 porsche. THE TAB IN THE FENDER WELL BEHIND THE HEADLIGHT TRIM IS RUSTED AND THE TRIM SCREW NO LONGER WORKS'

Lots of threads on this. The right way is weld a new nut in place. Some guys use a speed clip after grinding off the old nut. Or jb weld a new nut in place.

What do you mean it’s busted? How about snapping a photo.

Can you drill and retap the existing nut?

I've got a similar problem and will be using a machine thread speed clip/nut like below.
I'll be able to use the stock threaded screw.

I soft-soldered a new nut onto the back of the tab on my car about 15 years ago and it’s still working well. A very simple repair

I mig welded a ew nut in place. Just make sure your angles are correct.

I used a speed clip on mine like the one pictured by Doug above. Worked very well.
