Anti-Aging Cream

So, what's the final word on 'spunk' that will preserve or restore vinyl? My car has the really nice leather-look vinyl door covers and rear deck, and also a vinyl dash. It's all in great shape, but I'd like to do more than clean it, if I can. Naturally, I'm interested in something silicone-free. I've heard folks poo-poo glycerin and other spunks, but I wonder if there's a product that is safe and effective.

If you can get the original "Black Again" through Ebay or some other way you'll have what you want. I believe the new version has silicone. I'll take a pic of the bottle tonite so you know what you're looking for.

Oh, it's not just for black items but was originally pushed as a tire dressing. They may also have a vinyl product and I may be able to get you some.....

OK, Black Again went out of business in Dec, 1999. The formula was sold to North American Oil, Inc., who "improved it. It is now listed on their website under silicone detailing creams.

My horn pad has this black crap on it that is now flaking off. I try to scrap it off when I'm sitting at lights. Any suggestions how to get rid off it & what to treat it with after I get it off? TIA

Find a horn pad at a swap meet. Thanks for the input. Perhaps I'll consider some Meguiars products. I need to hit the generic autopartstore today anyway.

i like the 303 protectant. just a bit too shiny at first for my liking, but does NOT leave a greasy dust attracting residue. my 2 cents....(hey, I must be up to close to a dollars worth of opinion by now) max

I like Meguier's vinyl and rubber cleaner. Cleans, brings the color back and doesn't get too shiny.

Lexol Vinylex is the good stuff. No silicone, not too shiny, and actually treats and protects the vinyl, rather than just make it look ridiculously shiny.

A friend living near lake Tahoe suggested 303 to me, said it offers great UV protection. He uses it on both his boat and his 'Vette. (No cracks about having a 'Vette owning friend, we've been friends since grade school years.) Anyway, I've had trouble finding it here. Anybody who can give me an Oregon source? I want to try it.

Super,
It's the sun and heat that kills your vinyl.
I use 303 Protectant, a windscreen sun-shield, and Gwen Howell's Cockpit Bonnet (if I leave the car outside on a hot sunny day for a long time.)

The 'Bomber's interior certainly does not disclose her age!

I use to work for Meguiars and I always use the #40 on my interior. It doesn't have that greasy look and will last for quite some time. Looks good on the tires too but comes off in water.
