This is a basic question; I know that the resistance of the wires and the connectors should be 3000-4000 ohms. I have a digital multimeter that has a 2000 ohms setting and a 2000k ohms setting. When I measure the connector and wire on the 2000 ohms setting I get a range of 980-1075. Measuring just the connectors I get a range of 1032-1076. On the 2000k setting for all of the above measurements I get 001. Does this mean that I need to replace the wires and connectors? I am assuming that normally they should be off the 2000 ohms scale. I guess I really don't understand what the multimeter is telling me so I want to make sure that I am correctly interpreting the info before I shell out for new wires and connectors.

You are just showing to little resistance but should not be a problem. Worst case is that you here a little radio noise. When you have higher numbers the more resistance and this would cause for running problems.
