leaking exhaust 1972 911
I have a 1972 911T and the exhaust has a leak at the joint seen in the pic . .is this repairable with a weld? Is the break farther up the pipe but covered by the heat shielding for the heater? I am not that familiar with the 911 as this is my first one. I know the replacements are expensive and difficult to remove.

If you did choose to weld the only/best way to have any chance of welding it IMO, is by gas welding (oxy-acetylene). It's so old and crusty that trying to TIG or MIG it would be very hard. Getting it clean enough to TIG would be very hard. MIG would be more doable but it would look very ugly when finished. If you know someone who can gas weld that would be your best bet. Getting to be a lost art though.
