White Smoke! Help!
Hello guys,
Few months ago I bought my first Porsche 911 1978 3.0. Everything was fine (few leaks, nothing major) but one day I put too much oil in the car and started to smoke white really bad. I drained the excess of oil and change the spark plugs. Today I replaced the oil and valve cover gaskets to fix few leaks. The white smoke is way way less, but still there, kind of comes and goes. I was told that I just have to really drive the car to burn it out, but I’m not sure about that. Can someone please guide me through this issue. I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to engine, but I feel comfortable working and learning as I go. Please help! |

Yup,
Oil got in places it shouldn’t have like the exhaust and now you have to burn it off. Fogging for mosquitoes is what we call it in MN! Always and only check the oil level after the car is warmed up and on a level surface. Maybe do a bunch of night driving to avoid the embarrassment?

You’re welcome.
Next time you warm it up, check that the oil level on the dipstick isn’t more than about half. If you have it higher, it tends to find its way into the intake.
