Need help finding this muffler
 

Looking for the "wider" sport muffler as in this 914-6-GT picture.

Not that the exhaust tips are wider apart and larger in diameter than this commonly availlable sport muffler...

Read through this thread for some contacts and ideas. It nearly answers your question.

When I was looking down that road, I remember that the internal baffels did not allow the width that you are wanting. I say make your own. Then copy me with the works.http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/king4.gif

I just finished converting a stock muffler into a sport muffler. I can post some shots showing the inside of the muffler with baffles I welded in. You could mount the exhaust tips as wide as the inlet pipes if you wanted. The muffler wouldn't muffler anything. I welded in some more baffles because I want it quieter than the sport muffler. I moved the tips as close together as I could. Won't know how it sounds for a few weeks until I get the motor back in.

I don't think that's the same muffler. I'm sure you could follow the same logic and build a duplicate the same way.

I'm not sure how the factor 911ST or 914-6-GT mufflers were baffled internally.

THAT would be nice to figure out.

If you look where the inlet pipes are located relative to where the two new exite pipes are you'll notice there is no baffling. It seems to me the majority of the exhaust will go straight from the inlets to the outlets and some of the exhause will circulate around.

I'm sure that these mufflers are baffled somewhat different internally.

I'd just build your own. This is a "Pressler" sport exhaust that was built for me about 10 years ago. He may still be around the west coast somewhere. You could place the tips just about anywhere.:cool:

With my basic german I can tell you that the guy has made this exhaust himself and it cost him 350 Euro's to make. The case and pipes are stainless steel. The pipes extend 12cm from the case and have an external diameter of 54mm, conical steel baffles are provided to change the pitch of the exhast and back presure. Exhaust has only travelled 20km's to test its sound.

Might be worth a look (although shipping to the states may be extortionate!)
