1972 valve adjustment issue
Doing a valve adjustment on my 1972 911T and it appears someone has replaced one of the valve adjustment nuts with a thicker nut . . not that much of an issue but the nut will not release from the adjustment screw. Can I replace both the adjusting screw and bolt with new while the engine is still in the car? It is an exhaust adjustment so little room to work in the engine compartment. Will the adjusting screw completely unscrew from the rocker or is the end too large to screw thru the rocker arm?

To remove the adjuster, you need to remove the rocker arm. To do that, you loosen the rocker shaft bolt, and slide the shaft sideways until you can remove the rocker. Installation is reverse.

...and clean out the shaft bore. If there's any dirt in the bore, it will prevent the shaft from sealing in the bore and lead to another one of those annoying oil drips that are hard to find.

Valve Timing……..
Do not forget to set the particular cylinder @ TDC (1-6-2-4-3-5). Make sure the cam is not loaded when you remove/install the rocker shaft assembly.
