Fiberglass Front Bumper Reinforcement
I’m installing front and rear fiberglass bumpers for weight savings and aesthetic improvements. Anyone sell any kind of collision support that mounts behind them for a slow speed accident? Or does everyone run them without solely for the weight benefit?
I saw J West apparently use to make something but can no longer find them.

Fiberglass Front Bumper Reinforcement
Hey Ryan,
I had a friend make these crash bars for my front and rear, they get bolted into where the crush tubes get mounted. It’s not 100% coverage but better than just a fiberglass bumper alone. ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by Saadi996tt; 10-14-2024 at 08:26 PM.. |

Interesting. That looks like a viable solution. Thanks!

By the way the car is almost complete, just need to tackle the interior. Need to get your input on the rear 3pt seat belts installation.

Car is looking great.
Apologies I've been busy removing the engine and transmission from a 996 Turbo so haven't updated the other thread or created the "how-to" regarding the 3 point rear belts. I'll see if I can manage that or feel free to message me your phone number and we can talk for a bit.

No question that fiberglass bumpers are less effective,
our old cars are becoming more valuable, It might be wise to make sure that your insurance company is not going to challenge a repair that may have been substantially made more expensive by "modifying" your car
I am continually unimpressed with the caution exercised by joe public, If the front of your car is all stove in, will your ins co balk at replacement costs??? pessimistic, c |

Insurance companies aren't fighting these claims. Collector cars live in the margins and they don't bother to dig too deep. Modern cars are where the fight is - expect them to try to force the shop to fix your car with garbage replacement parts.

Saadi996tt those bumpers look awesome. Are they the SCRS bumpers? Do you have a photo of the front of the car?
