1969 2.0S Engine number 6391537 - chassisnr?

I have a 911 engine which should be a 1969 2.0S engine.

the engine number is: 6391537

Is there any sort of registry where one can search for the car it belongs to?

thanks!

Axel

Go over to Early911S, DaveP has an engine list. Not a VIN list though. Someone over there just did match a chassis to the original motor. My guess is mine came out of a totaled 69 as I have a lot of 69 bits and pieces.

Is there any way of verifying various car numbers (engine, chassis, gearbox) as they rolled out the factory? My local porsche dealer says they used to offer the service but don't any more.

Sure, but it will cost you. You need to request a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate and bring the car to a Classic dealer for an inspection. Costs around $500.

Sometimes a friendly dealer will look up a VIN in their system and print the screen, but I think that only works with cars starting with the 1981 model year.

Cross reference the OP over on Early911s and draw your own conclusions.

hi Nickel, I did post on early911s - or what do you mean?

my VIN nr is 9111120885, interested in the matching 71T case too!
