1987 Carrera Boge Strut Pin

Finally wrapping up my front suspension refresh and want to confirm on the strut tube pin for a boge strut.

(a) the pin should be driven into the strut tube from the front
(b) the pin should be flush to the tube

Thanks

just watched a video and they installed the pin from the back of the car. Pretty sure the manual shows the pin going in from the front.

Also, pretty sure it should be flush into the strut tube.

I don't have my bentley manual on hand, but it outlines the direction and orientation it needs to go in on the suspension section.

Not flush, 2mm stick out is normal.

I think I misread the manual and assumed that the diagram "Front Strut" meant front of strut, however I realize now it means front vs rear.

The picture clearly shows it being installed from the rear. There is no callout in the instructions (that I can see) of which direction it needs to be installed. Does it matter?

Thanks

Mine is inserted from the rear with the nut on the front. However, given the symmetry of the parts from left to right, it should not matter functionally which way they go.
