Real time TPMS ?

The recent tire blowout thread is a wakeup call. Assuming these work reasonably quickly, the seconds of warning after a puncture make a world of difference. Saves the rim and possibly tire as well in addition to not having a really bad day.

Anyone installed these ?

In my opinion they are much better at telling you about a slow leak or change in the weather than a puncture (i.e., deflation over seconds is easy to feel and respond to, deflation over hours or days not so much).

They are very helpful on my newer cars that were delivered with them.

I assume you are talking about an after market TPMS. For those you need a remote reader, handheld. Between monitoring that and a blow out you will get no advance notice. There's a reason tire shops call them 'toilet paper monitoring systems.' Oh heck, I'm out:)

You won’t get any warning about a blow out. But you will get real time info about tire pressure and temperature.

I install one on my 79 and love it. Cheap. Easy. Weighs nothing.

I find the factory systems in my cars useful. I've picked up a slow leak and it was nice to be able to see the issue quickly. When spending time at my friends service station, a lot of customers tires were saved by having the system. Of course there are ones like my niece that saw the warning light but kept going a week or so till the rim cut into the sidewall.
I just googled it, and there are quite a few systems out there to give real time monitoring, you just have to find a place for the monitor screen. Some even plug into the power cigarette lighter port.

Yeah, from what I understand reading the other thread, the cause of the blowout was low tire pressure which could have been due to a slow leak.

metal stems, yes. if you buy the one intended for the Honda, it comes with a lovely bezel (that mine did not) that will give you a little wiggle room when you make the hole for the unit.

i wonder, can you just feel your car if this stuff will happened or before driving have visual look at your rims??

But again little story..Back in 1992 winter i was driving from LA to Harrisburg for a friends wedding, i was doing about 80-90 mph somewhere in Arizona,
Suddenly this black Camarro was passing me and the dude was pointing to my rear wheel that i have a flat.I was thinking yah right i will pull over here in the middle of desert for this for you.Mind you i did not feel any pulling or anything else at that speed. So he was gone and i slowed down ,ops and that moment my car was making noise and of course i had a flat-So,i replaced it with spare wheel and of to Phoenix, about 60 miles to go,But it was Sunday so not shop to get the tire from...Got one on Monday of i was to my next trouble in Texas..long story i think i posted it here already;-)))Got snowed it and my oil cooler blew up...
