SC Timing, need help
I have a 1980 Euro SC, pure stock engine. I need to get it smog checked next month so I want it to be in good tune. Can some one tell me the timing specs and procedure? I have the Haynes book but is not much help. I have a timing light with the advance adjustment knob. My dist. only has a vac. advance and I noticed no change in the timing when this hose was unpluged or attached, there dosen't seem to be any vacumn from this hose.
Thanks to all. |
5 degrees BTDC at 950 rpms. The vacuum hose going to the distrubutor will have no vacuum on it at idle so you can leave it connected. How about a PIC of your car? I also have a 1980 Euro SC.

Here is a pic of my car. It looks black in this shot but this is the only pic I have at work. 1980, Mocha black (really dark brown) no sunroof, no AC, cloth seats, 78000 mi. everyday driver for the last 2.5 years in Pittsburgh PA.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa... black 911.jpg

Nice looking car. We can start a ESCWDP club, the E stands for Euro.

I also have an Euro!!!
However this is not that difficult, being in Europe :D http://www.pelicanparts.com/pmpre/im...DSC00175_3.jpg |
Euro here too! Mine is silver, no a/c, no sunroof, cloth seats also. I think it weighs in at under 2400#s due to other things that have been removed. ~70,000 miles (odo switched at 20,000 km). PO used it as a daily driver, but now it sits in my garage for sunny day use only! Hopefully soon to be track use too.
How often does timing need to be adjusted. I thought that once set, it didn't need to be adjused very often if ever. |
