Will a 3.0 liter case accept a 3.2 crank?

a buddy of mine just had a bad engine failure with a big hole in the crank case. i dont think it can be fixed. in any event, i dont see 3.2 cases for sale all that often, but i do see 3.0 cases up for grabs on occassion. would the 3.0 case accept a 3.2 liter crank? and all the other stuff?

i think i may be answering my own question here...and i think it has to do with the crank position sensor near the fly wheel...3.0 cases do not have that i bet.

Yes. 3.0 cases will take the crank and other internal parts from a 3.2, but they do not have the mounting holes for the crank sensor. IDK if you can modify a 3.0 to add that.

Bob...im an "SC" guy but i believe the crank postion sensor is used by the Fuel Injection system to control timing and what not.

You have the speed and reference sensors and head temp sensor that feed info to the DME for fuel and ignition. I don't think the sensor that sits right next to the breather cap has any input. I thought it was a connect that allowed you to retrieve info, not sure what. I never have had to deal with it on repairs. Bob

PeteKz has a 3.2. Don't know where he sourced it but he's one of the 'go to' guys here.

My 3.2 runs CIS, not Motronic. It's basically a stroked SC engine.
