Replacement Dashboard - Where to buy?ç

Hello all, over the winter I'd like to source a replacement dashboard for my 86 targa. I believe my car was blessed with the full leather package from the factory, so over the years the leather has decided to pull it up quite aggressively.

I've heard mixed reviews about where to get these from. I'm open to going new-replacement, but is used in good condition the way to go? Anything is a bonus if I don't have to pay $1k+ for a new one. Open to any input, pics below for reference of the current condition of mine

Based on the condition of your dash I would be looking for a leaking windshield. That doesn’t look like sun damage.

Windshield was replaced earlier this year. It didn't seem to be leaking when I got the car. Based on the condition of my door top trim rails and the ones in the rear (which I repaired), I'm sticking with the sun/heat theory here

Why don't you look for a competent local upholster that can recover your original dash?

That would be my first choice.

There are threads of reproduction dashes not fitting, not liking, etc.

The leather dries out and pulls up the core of the dash.

You have the later dash - I'd buy a new porsche vinyl replacement and have it recovered in leather.

The whole thing is warped like crazy, it's even pulled toward the windshield and doesn't fit closely with the upper door trim. Vent in the center also doesn't fit right, hence my need for a full replacement.

Looks like a leather covered dash from factory. That would make it sun damage, they (Leather covered) all will end up that way if left in sun over the years.

We bought our last 2 dashes from Porsche...

Cheers

Nailed it.

Looks like I'll have to make my way over to one of the parts suppliers to buy an OEM dash. Thanks for the input!
