So my paint guy comes over...
...to give me the timeline for the complete spray of my Gruppe B Turbo project.
I had the digital camera ready to snap a few pics of before for future posting when I hear all sorts of noise coming from my neighbors. I run outside and see this!! Every July 1-6 Battle Creek hosts the Balloon Nationals at the Kellogg Int'l Arpt. I live about 1 mile as the crow flies from the landing zone... ...this guy didn't make it...

C'mon Jerry, come clean. The bit about the paint guy was fabricated so this post about the balloon landing wouldn't be sent to OT.

Landing zone for a hot air balloon? They just go where they want to! I used to have a friend who piloted one of the Remax balloons and I got to work on the crew some. He had all sorts of stories about landing that thing. One day I was just driving along near downtown Atlanta and saw him trying to find a place to land. He dropped a line to me behind a grocery store and I pulled him down.
Once my wife and I went up with him to fly over a University of Georgia football game. We took off from a church parking lot and flew all over Athens, GA. After several aborted attempts at landing we eventually set down in the SAME parking lot we took off from! He said in 15 years of balloning he'd done that one other time.
