Door lock fork
Working on a 1979 - 911sc and found something very strange.
No matching keys for locking the doors (this was like this for the last 15 years) , so I installed new cylinders in the door handles. Put everything back in the door, and ... the doors could not be locked with the new cylinders and keys! Opening was possible. After looking what could be wrong I found that the forks on the 'internal lock latch' were missing the rear part! (see red circled on the photo), and this on both drivers and passengers side. Not broken but a clean cut! If someone can come up with a reason why this was done, I would be happy to hear it. ![]() |

There is no reason. You need the entire fork for it to function correctly.

Sounds like someone replaced the lock latching mechanism with the later style for cars equipped with M 341 central locking. Those latches only have one finger for unlocking and can’t be manually locked with the key.
