iPhone holder

I’ve been looking for a simple, unobtrusive way to mount an iPhone in my 1973 911. Realized that with the ashtray open the phone fits perfectly and is quite secure. I put a thick rubber band around the ashtray right behind the phone to keep it from shifting when I press the buttons.

iPhone 8 in a Lifeproof case. Was better in a black case but I had to replace it.

Blaupunkt Frankfurt was modded to include Bluetooth so now I’ve got an/fm stereo, aux, and nav but still classic look. Don’t worry, I didn’t ruin a perfectly good Frankfurt; the radio was inoperable before

Someone should be able to figure out some 3D printed base that has attach a magnetic mount. I’d buy one...

I didn’t want a magnetic mount because it interferes with the wireless QI charging

Used to mount mine there as well but got fed up with it shutting down when I inserted it there and it pressed the power-off button. Bet you have solved that.

Still prefer how the rennline mount puts the phone much closer to my field of vision. have been able to use magnetic mount AND wireless charging by moving my magnet just below my phone's center point-- also seen that there are magnetic rings available that leave the center of the phone open for wireless charging too.

Here's a link to the rennline mount Porsche 911 ExactFit Magnetic Phone Mount-Rennline, Inc.

RSBob, I’ve not had any instances of it powering off. I think with the lifeproof case you’ve got to press pretty hard. Also I always mount it with the power button down so maybe the angle of the tray prevents it from getting pushed

Version 2- replacer the body of the ashtray with a 3-d printed one to hold a magnetic wireless charger. Now I can close the ashtray when the phone isn’t in there. Also, since it hangs just below the dash when open, my phone size is no longer limited to the size of the ashtray opening

Super cool! I ended up with the Rennline qi charging mount. Definitely more in my line of sight but I've also noticed, every once in awhile I'll accidentally knock my phone off of it. It also obstructs the view of the dash vent controls...this seems way better to avoid the phone being FOD in the cabin.
