Weber Linkage Question
A mechanic awhile back mentioned I should adjust this upside down triangle piece so the top is completely parallel (flat) with the ground. As you can see mine leans towards the back of the car by a few degrees and any image i can find is similar. He had mentioned a smoother operation if I leaned it back towards to the front of the car and adjusted linkage accordingly. Thoughts? What's correct?

Yeah he's right. If it wasn't originally a carbed intake, it may have been set up this way to clear the engine tin. You may have to notch the engine tin at the top, once you adjust the linkage. If it was originally carbs, simply adjust the ends on the three ends.
Also there are several different length rods that come from the throttle bell crank on the transaxle. There are also different ratio bell cranks depending on the year and type of intake. For instance, CIS bell crank will be more angled, vs early carb version will be more of a 90 if I remember. I used the stock 75 CIS bell crank on the transaxle mated to a shorter CIS Targa rod. I also bought an early rod and it turned out to be the longest of the three rods I acuired (stock CIS 75, 71 early rod with U curve in it, and 76 Targa CIS rod). Some people modify the existing rod to make it shorter when they change from CIS to carbs.

Ah that makes sense! It’s a 71 with a 76 2.7. I will look into the bell crank angle as well. Thank you!

What's correct is what allows full throttle, if you make the bell crank flat on top you won't achieve full throttle,,,,try it !

I see, because the bell crank on the tranny will max out rotation and not pull the upper engine bell crank far enough thus not allowing throttles fully opened. It’s all good now, maybe I shouldn’t fiddle
