CIS fuel distributor '077' for 81-83 US SC - Cold Start Issue

I have been fighting cold start issues on my 83 SC and have tested and replaced everything that needed it (thanks Tony!) except the FD. I read many articles about a sticky plunger and the side effects of flooding and hard cold start. After taking off the FD today I think I finally figured out my cold start issue, a sticky plunger due to very fine scratches . Not sure how they got there or what caused it. I was all prepared to just put in the plunger spring I bought from Europe but now in a bind.

What are my options to get this fixed? I am assuming I can't just get a used plunger/metering valve and then rebuild the whole unit. An exchange or rebuild program probably can't use my FD?

For the amount of time and money spent getting the CIS sorted I could have done a Bitz Racing kit or just bit the bullet and converted to ITB...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
