Anybody know this SC to 930S conversion?

If this car is nice it really seems like a good deal.

Was an SC and is now a slant nose turbo. Seems like it would be hard to duplicate for the $19K he's asking. Anybody familiar with this car? BTW, I have no affiliation with the car or owner.

Lee,

Don't know the car but here's a Flatnose conversion specific checklist:

- How many miles on the motor?
- Who did the conversion?
- Where did the conversion parts come from?

Look very carefully at the fit between the front hood and fenders...should be a uniform gap.

Inspect the headlights carefully.
- Is the headlight bucket hacked together? Rusting behind the face plate?
- Are they the proper round headlights? Or rectangular.
- Do the lights clear the front bumper so you get a full beam projected?
- Do the headlights use individual motors or a single, central unit? See here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=132839&perpage=20&highl ight=slantnose&pagenumber=2
- DO THEY SHAKE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS? (Important)

Check around the front vents.
- Are the louver cuts clean?

- Use a magnet and check for bondo in the gas filler door area, around the rear brake vents and around where the rear flares are attached.

- Does the gas filler door open properly? Is this area finished properly?

- Is there access to the jack point through the boxed rocker?

- Are the front fenders and rear flares undercoated properly?

- Check the fit of the front air dam and for repairs. This item is damaged very, very easily.

- Check fit of the rear wing.

- Is there a front or rear wheel well oil cooler?

- Is there a winshield washer bottle? Does it leak?

Don't forget about a good ole PPI....

Good luck!

Rick Do you know someone good that might do a PPI in the area? This car is pretty close to you in Airmont, NY.

I haven't called the owner yet, but I'm just wondering if I get to that point who to use and how much it will cost. Shipping from there to here will run around $1200 so there's already one strike against it.

What does the beer bottle openner mounted on the side of the tower PC have to do with a slant nose for sale?

Don't know the car but seems like a deal if everything checks out.
I just bought an SC slant nose, non turbo, though for not a whole lot less than that!
Using RickM's checklist, my conversion checks out well on everything EXCEPT the headlights bouncing. I think this is the worst part of the whole car and it drives me nuts. I tore them down and replaced the bushings in the linkage and it helped out about 50%, but any ideas as to the best way to fix? (Sorry, don't mean to invade on your thread)

Lee,

Sorry I don't know of any shops in the area as I live a bit south of there. I'm sure there are Rockland county Pelicanites that chime in here.

I also noticed that the car has the standard 930 rocker covers as opposed to the factory style 930s boxed rockers....no biggy. It also has the fiberglass vented rear flair extensions that a few members are trying to locate.

I just got hold of all the pics of the car...looks pretty well done....at least in the pics. The hoops could be better aligned with the driver side fender but that could be tweeked.

The items I'm anal about are the rear vent "gills". Some manufactures made very cheap looking, ill fitting steal versions. I ended up making my own out of resin and using a slightly wrinkled satin paint for a final finish. They fit the contours of the brake vent box perfectly.

Oh...and it has a dual outlet muffler....that's nice.
