Achtung Kraft exhaust experience?

Just saw some videos on Youtube made by the company but not really any real world owner videos. These exhausts are pricey but look super cool with their different modes.

Brian makes an incredible product and supports it 100%. Their new active exhaust is awesome. Can sound stock with baffles inserted or mental with everything uncorked at WOT. Really cool to see a legit USA company making innovative new products for aircooled. Brian is also very active in the community, see him at rallye events all the time in his nutty longhood turbo. You’ll be very happy with his products.

Very happy with mine (so happy I was wearing an Achtung Kraft shirt in one of the vids):

It's a work of art. I've not yet removed the tips to hear rowdy mode first hand, but eager to do so!

Yes, you can see the switch box (unmounted) on the passenger seat in my first video. No discernible change in sound at idle, but get on the cam and you'll know the difference between open and closed valves. It's RF actuated, as opposed to some of the vacuum-driven mufflers I've seen.

My name Thunderchief actually comes from some misheard lyrics from AC/DC. "Dirty Jeans, Thunderchief" vs the real words "Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap"

I’m very happy with mine. It sounds great and doesn’t drone. It fits perfectly between US bumper pads and below the license plate in stock location, no fear of melting anything. As others have said the sound doesn’t change much, or at all, at idle when you open the valves….but get on it and it makes some music.

Anyone know what the AK tuneable muffler weighs vs the stock muffler?

Thanks

Mine weighed just shy of 20lbs, which is lighter by two pounds than the Dansk Sport I was running.

According to Bryan, the material wall thickness is double that of most stainless mufflers. I peppered it with rocks over 3k rally miles this fall and it didn't dent. After all the gravel roads I expected it to be trashed but it took the abuse without issue.

Full Disclosure, Bryan is a friend and I tested a bunch of the prototypes for him. But if the muffler wasn't good I wouldn't run it. I drive way too many miles to put up with drone!

FWIW, I paid for mine….and I’m a happy customer. I didn’t know Bryan previously but have communicated with him and others from the Achtung Kraft crew several times via phone, email and Instagram since buying my exhaust and they are all great; true enthusiasts who want to help out other air cooled enthusiasts.

Here’s a pic….because why not. I need to find some time and record a video for the forum. Eventually I’ll add a lower valance that’s cut for the center exit.

No personal experience other than turning to my friends and asking “did Sean (Scbrindley) get one of the Achtung Kraft mufflers?” as he pulled past leaving a Top Notch meet up. Looks good and sounds great. I’ll add that my integration with the guys from AK has been great. They’re good dudes.

I followed two of those mufflers from IN to RR7 and back. One on Matt's 73.5 with a 2.4 and the other on Nate's 914 with a 1.8.

Both sounded great. They ran them baffled for the majority of the trip and uncorked them for parade laps at Laguna Seca.

I'll see if I can find some video in my phone to upload.

Matt's 2.4 911T was the biggest surprise of any of the cars I've heard. It sounded like a mini GT3! And because it doesn't have a ton of power it takes longer to rev out, prolonging that glorious sound near redline vs a hotrod that would have already grabbed another gear.
