Alternator wiring
I am replacing alternator and voltage regulator in my 74 911 with a Bosch alternator with built in regulator. I’m fairly certain I know where to hook I the hot red wire and blue wire that goes to the instrument panel. I cut and capped the black voltage regulator wire. I’m not sure what to do with a white or faded tan wire that remains. I took pictures of the original wiring but they’re not helping me. I’d appreciate any help I can get.

Ron,
Is the white or faded tan wire a ground? B+ = red wire D- = brown wires (ground 2 required) 61 = blue wire http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1734293809.jpg |
I believe so. When I disassembled things a second broken white wire was laying on top of the block. I didn’t have any brown wires. But I do see two brown wires feeding the regulator.

I’ll try to attach a picture of my replacement alternator and my regulator. Not sure what to do to take it out of service.

I’ve spent almost an hour trying attach pictures. I give up.

Ron, see my reply on the other thread you started. Then delete that thread and stick to one thread. Brown (not tan) is ground.

Thank you. I’m struggling navigating our site. I’ve tried to delete the duplicate but can’t pull it off. Only option I find is to edit it. Also struggling to attach photos. A helpful member says to start with “advanced reply”. I can’t even find that option.
I’ll keep trying Thanks again. |
Right beside the yellow post quick reply it says go advanced.
