Help with Engine compartment light wiring connection

Can someone shed some light for me on how the wiring harness plugs into the engine compartment light housing? I'm reassembling a car someone else took apart and cannot figure out how the wires are suppose to connect to the housing. Are they supposed to somehow plug into the two little brass fittings on the backside of the housing?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1735751266.jpg

On the other side of the fixture, there are posts that those 2 wires screw into.
Should be pretty evident which one is the ground side

Thank you! Now I see the housing comes off the top. Appreciate the help!

I’ll be doing this soon on my car, please post pictures of how it connects and how the wire is routes from the light down to the point where it joins the main wire harness… I’m curious how the harness is attached to the deck lid and how it transitions to the body.

This is how I ended out routing the harness, but since I didn't take it apart, I'm not claiming to be an expert. I saw a couple pictures on another thread so I think this is correct. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1735770162.jpg

That looks about right. Just make sure the loom doesn't go through any metal holes that aren't protected by a grommet.
Don't forget that the park lights need to be on for the light to work.
It should also turn off when the cover is rolled closed.

Can you show how it routes from the deck lid into the engine bay, and how it travels in the engine bay down to the wire harness bundle?

Mine goes from the light toward the back lip of the deck, then travels down the left side as you are looking into the compartment and is attached to the left hinge before meeting the rest of the loom. It is held in place with metal clips. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1735910632.jpg

Does that light ground to the decklid, or ground wire back to somewhere else?

Brown is ground

I am not sure where the brown ground wire on the light housing attaches at the other end. I didn't remove the whole harness - the housing was just disconnected from the light pig tail when I got it. Sorry I'm not much help.

Grey connects to a WECO single connector at the 6 pin tail light drivers side.
Brown goes to the ground stud behind the fuel filter.

Thanks, that is just what I needed!
