Electrical (Interior) Problem

Several months ago the interior lights on my 1984 911 Targa stopped working. I attempted to troubleshoot the problem (fuses, relays, shorts, swithces, etc.) and came away defeated. Other accessory items are working well (radio, lighter, etc.)

A few weeks ago, I hit a nasty pothole, the car was jolted violently, and the interior lights came on. Later, I left the car parked at the airport during a long trip and found out, via dead battery, that there were a few hidden lights left on (trunk, glove box).

Anyway, after only a week, the lights are not working again. Anyone have a suggestion of where to check next? I am thinking ground, but why trouble with only the interior lights?

Regards,
-Sean

I have an 84 Targa (although only for about two months). As I recall, the trunk (front) light is on a switch and should not stay on when the trunk is closed. The trunk (rear) light is only supposed to come on when the headlights are on and the light shroud is rotated. The only interior lights that mine has are the one between the Targa bar and the rear window and the glove box light. I don't have a wiring diagram with me (do you have one? if not, you need to get one, you can get it off of the Pelican site, or from a Haynes manual). My overhead light between the Targa Bar and the rear window didn''t work until I took it out and cleaned the contacts. Check voltage at the light switch. You might have a bad bulb or a bad ground or no voltage to the light switch.
