Here is my original paint Pacific Blue '82, (L31G), but should add that it is a color that looks and photographs different depending on light. Anywhere from purple-ish to very grey-blue. Only available in '81-'82.

And yes, Pacific Blue Metallic (L31G) is one of the most unique colors Porsche offered. Just ask the 'Blue Bomber'.....

This sort of thing is a useful first step, but colors never look the same on a computer or a photo as on a car. Besides the different ways that various programs render colors, even a film photo is highly dependent on the color temperature of the light.

You can go to a paint shop and peruse their PPG or other catalogs (which have chips in them). this still isn't perfect but will get you closer for step 2.

The best thing would be to compare several colors on the 911s themselves at a PCA meet, show, or for recent colors at a dealer lot. I'd call that stage 3 in color selection.
