Cig Lighter USB
Over the years there have many comments about the poor fit and performance of cigarette lighter USB chargers for G-body cars. The German lighter apertures are larger than U.S. counterparts so the adapters do not fit snugly enough. Stuttgart-Classica now sells a charger specially made for G-Body Porsches that fits perfectly and has both a USB-A and USB-C port Pricey, but it works. https://www.stuttgart-classica.com/dashboard/cigarette-lighter-usb

Looks cool but that price is ridiculous. The porshce markup is strong on this one.

Anybody who pays that price has more money than brains. I have lots of cheap cig lighter USB ports that stay in the Porsche lighter socket (and MB, BMW, etc.).
I'll send you one for "only" $79.

Love the idea of this. Refuse to pay that much. If anyone has a cheaper alternative, please sent my way

I have done the "sleeve" modification to make the lighter work with normal sized usb/voltage meter and even I have to say it "kinda looks less than stellar"...especially now that I have redone the entire dash and interior.
I think these would sell like crazy if they were priced reasonably. What that price is...I do not know. As an 80's and early 2000's Land Rover owner also, I am struggling to find parts/new parts for them...so, am glad the 911 scene is still getting new parts being upgraded and offered. The part makes sense...the price, I am not so sure. Erik

Many years ago you used to get a sleeve when you got a adapter for this exact reason .. i wish i had one now. All you need is a metal sleeve with the right slot in it. it was invisible too.
Cant be that hard to make at hone surely

This is what I did: Dr. Bulczynski 3.2 Cigarette Lighter MOD $5.99 EDIT: I don't use my cigarette lighter for anything other than GPS and occasionally a volt check. With that said if you look through the thread I linked the video on the third page shows something of concern. My tab inside is not touching the 'hot' part of the lighter (visually verified) and I do not have metal chargers/devices plugged in as addressed per the video. Knock wood I have had no issues in many many years, but can not give out advice/links without properly addressing the "do at your own risk". Again, I don't really use the lighter socket a lot but when I do it is only for the GPS and that doesn't have the metal housing he speaks of in the video. My stereo charges my phone and I don't need USB plugs in my cigarette lighter.... Erik

Here is an Option...... $5
Here's an option..... cost next to nothing and keeps you in the garage!
Fun little project, ZERO issues once completed, fully functional. The USB Port cost me less than five bucks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The center console was something I added to my 74 doesn't come with one, but I liked the idea of the console, the knobs were useless so I made the functional.... I love the way it came together. Super easy. |

I as joking about the $79. Really, most of the $14 cheapies on Chinazon will work and stay in the socket. That's where I got mine.
