'69 911 Going home
Hi All, I have not posted much on the forums, but used it extensively a couple of years ago while I rebuilt my '69 911T. Everyone was very helpfull and I got all the information I needed to finish restoring my car.
I now have a different question and understand this is not the correct forum to ask questions about selling a car, but Pelican has not given me access to the trading forums yet as I changed my email address. My question is simple, where is the best place to start when selling my car in the US. I am in Australia and my car is a left hand drive California import, thus no-one is interested in buying it locally. People think the car is not useable; however I love the LHD cars and feels like I am on holiday in America or Europe every time I drive it, and the driving position and pedals are perfect as intended! In fact I have owned 3 x '69 models through my life, a T,E and S, all LHD. The sell will be a reluctant sell, but I am planning to retire and need funding. I will appreciate your comments on the best way to go about this, should/can I sell the car privately or to a broker/dealer? I will also appreciate any recommendations of comapnies you have personal experience with that can help me sell the car. |

I think it is your choice on dealer or private party.
Bring a trailer is a private party sales site that tends to bring top dollar for well presented cars. You would need to sort out transport and paperwork with your buyer, whereas a dealer would probably work that out for you. You should at least check bring a trailer for comparable sales in the US to get an idea of value. https://bringatrailer.com/search/?s=1969+911t |

If you go BaT route, having a helping plan to export (costs and process) will definitely help the buyer pay more - that crowd will ask whether buying or not.
But for market place, Japan, Hong Kong, or other nearby markets would be worth investigating. |

I thought in Australia / NZ is also a very lively Porsche community ... I suppose that there will be also good opprtunities to sell it. Probably ask Jeff from https://www.youtube.com/c/HomeBuiltByJeff
He's sitting in Australia too. Either he's interested or knows sb else?! https://www.pcv.com.au/PorscheClubs/pc_victoria/pc_main.nsf/web/DB4FD2FBEE071A57C12570E40064197F https://porscheforum.com.au/ https://www.pcnsw.com.au/PorscheClubs/pc_nsw/pc_main.nsf/web/home https://www.facebook.com/porscheclubwa/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/early911nz/ Thomas

Thanks all, correct there is some activity for early cars locally, people with the means to buy these cars do not want to risk anything. They are investors and not like me. I was allways the enthusiast and dont care too much about the pursit aspect as long my car meets my needs. I have upgraded my car to meet S spec, thus upgraded the motor (still 2.0L with Webers - thus technically a '68S), and suspension and made sure the car handles and drives like a Porsche should. I have always followed the US forums and all upgeaded components are from the US, that is why I think it may suit the US market better.
I will contact Bring a trailer, would still like some suggestions on dealers that may be interested. |
